Seeking a seasoned Backend Engineer who can architect scalable, high-performance systems for Japan's energy infrastructure while managing complex domain challenges and contributing to technical leadership across a growing organization.

Since our founding in 2019, we have provided a marketplace for energy providers and have grown to become Japan's largest online trading market, including major power companies. Our GTV (Gross Transaction Value) is approaching 3 trillion yen, and we aim to realize a 100 trillion yen market in annual transaction volume in the future.
In 2024, we raised 6 billion yen in Series B funding from domestic and international institutional investors including DCM Ventures and Solos Capital Management, financial institutions, and 9 energy trading businesses including power, gas, and trading companies, and are actively investing in our development team.

An ETRM (Energy Trading Risk Management System) specialized for Japanese electricity that visualizes business risk amounts from transaction status and market data.
4/ JCEX: Environmental Commodities Exchange
A marketplace where domestic environmental commodities and overseas voluntary credits can be bought and sold online, supporting climate change mitigation and the realization of carbon neutrality in Japan.

Backend Challenges

• Domain-driven design and architecture design in anticipation of system scaling
• High-level security, availability, and performance for building systems close to national infrastructure
• Understanding complex energy domains while communicating with domain experts
• Developing a management and people development system for a tech organization of over 50 people

Job Responsibilities

• Design and deliver resilient electronic trading services with strong reliability, low-latency performance, and a bias for automation on cloud-native infrastructure
• Develop and operate core platform components including the primary exchange services, clearing workflows, external and internal APIs, connectivity solutions, and developer tooling
• Build data pipelines and services to ingest, catalog, analyze, transform, and publish market and trading data with auditability and governance
• Architect for reliability and performance by default, leveraging automation for provisioning, deployment, and operations
• Conduct thoughtful code reviews, share best practices, and mentor less experienced engineers to elevate engineering quality

• 4+ years professional engineering experience
• 1+ years experience in electronic trading with market facing role
• Familiarity with algorithmic trading principles and execution strategies
• Strong programming skills in languages such as Go, TypeScript, Java

• GCP/GKE usage experience
• Experience in vibe coding using multiple AI agents.
