[Description of the institution]
Symbiobe Inc. is an environmental biotechnology venture originating from Kyoto University, established in January 2021.
We have unique cultivation technologies for photosynthetic bacteria and production technologies for biopolymers and other useful substances, and by promoting industrial implementation of these technologies, we are building a resource-recycling material production platform that makes effective utilization of CO2 (carbon dioxide) and N2 (nitrogen) in the air.
To further strengthen and accelerate the development of large-scale culture technology for photosynthetic bacteria, we are looking for a new member to join us in the research and development of new technology.
As part of our business development, we have been conducting R&D and business development in collaboration with Kyoto University, academic institutions, companies, and local governments toward the construction and operation of a commercial plant for fixation of greenhouse gases. In addition, as we expand the amount of photosynthetic bacteria cultivated, we are simultaneously promoting the use of sustainable raw materials produced from photosynthetic bacteria for food production and existing industries in collaboration with companies. In line with the progress of our business, we are looking for researchers who can lead a project(s) with our CTO to achieve our R&D goals and plans based on our business policy as a researcher in our R&D department.

[Job Description]
・Job Title：Scientist/Senior Scientist
・Job Summary：Conduct research projects and joint research on the development of nitrogen fertilizers, bio-stimulants, and/or aquaculture feed using photosynthetic bacterial products.

[Job Scope]
・General operations necessary for smooth execution of duties within the R&D department.
・Coordination and collaboration with CEO/CTO management
・Collaboration and coordination with external research institutions, collaborating companies, funding sources, and other stakeholders.

[Academic background]
Ph.D. in Microbiology, Plant Science, Soil Science, Life Science, Polymer Science, Fisheries Science

[Required experience/conditions]
One of the following experiences:

• Experience in research of culture and/or biomaterial production using microorganisms.
• Experience in molecular biology research for genetic engineering of microorganisms.
• Experience in research of plant and/or soil science, especially, including those field tests.
• Experience with photosynthetic microorganisms and/or fertilizer R&D is a plus.

• English: Business level
• Japanese: Conversational level is a plus
