■Recruitment Background:
With the enforcement of the revised Road Traffic Law in April 2023, autonomous delivery robots like LOMBY can now operate on public roads, and Japan is at the forefront globally with legal provisions for robot operation. Our company develops both hardware and software domestically, leveraging the manufacturing experience and technology of Japanese companies, which is highly advantageous for robot development. However, the adoption of delivery robots in Japan is lagging compared to overseas, particularly due to a shortage of engineers skilled in autonomous control and sensor management technologies essential for safe public road operation. We invite those who are eager to challenge the social implementation and international expansion of domestic robots to apply (office tours are also available).

• Autonomous control development using Autoware
• Route planning
• Creation of maps for outdoor operation

■Specific Tasks:
Currently, LOMBY is undergoing commercial delivery trials with major retail businesses using the 4th generation prototype model (the next generation is a pre-production model). The main task will be the development of autonomous control using Autoware outdoors. So, this job is hybrid, but you need to live in Tokyo and come to the office or operating site as needed. A key feature of the role is the opportunity to engage comprehensively in developing a small delivery robot as an in-house product, from ground-up development to social implementation, making it operable in urban environments.

■ Company Overview
We are a startup founded in April 2022, aiming to provide affordable and stable 24-hour labor in the last-mile logistics sector through robots. We independently develop LOMBY, a self-driving robot designed to operate on public roads, covering everything from hardware to software. In October 2024, we successfully raised 270 million yen in funding, including investment from Suzuki Motor Corporation, and are progressing with development towards mass production. Our efforts towards social implementation of robots have been recognized by NEDO (New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization), with our project being selected since fiscal year 2022. Additionally, in September 2024, we were selected for NEDO's Deep Tech Startup Support Program, which includes grants exceeding 2 billion yen.

• Individuals who can act proactively without waiting for instructions.

• Experience in development using either C++ or Python.
• Experience in development with ROS2.
• Knowledge of various sensors such as cameras, LiDAR, and IMUs.

• Degree in Computer Science or Robotics.
• Contributions to open source projects.
• Experience in robotics competitions.
• Experience in production setup for mass manufacturing.
• English proficiency at a conversational level.
• Experience with autonomous control systems OSS such as Autoware, and　development of autonomous control software.
