At THECOO, we're leveraging cutting-edge technology to build Fanicon, an innovative and interactive fan community platform. Launched in December 2017, Fanicon is a subscription-based, premium fan community platform where fans can engage directly with their favorite artists and personalities (“icons”), who are directly involved in content design and creation. Fanicon has experienced continuous growth since its launch. As of December 2024, Fanicon hosts over 3,800 communities and over 400,000 fans.

At THECOO, we foster a culture where engineers can fully focus on building great products. As we scale Fanicon from 10 to 100, we’re seeking someone who can leverage their expertise to help us take the platform to the next level.

The Role

You will drive the technical evolution of the Fanicon Android app. In this role, we look for engineers who think like product owners—leading the end-to-end lifecycle of core features from the first "what if" to the final release. You’ll collaborate closely with PMs and designers during the planning stages, ensuring that abstract product goals are translated into a robust, high-performance technical reality.

• End-to-End Feature Ownership: Architect and implement high-impact features using Kotlin, ensuring they are scalable and aligned with the product vision.
• Engineering Excellence: Drive technical quality through proactive refactoring and meaningful code reviews. You don’t just fix bugs; you improve the system.
• Process Evolution: We value engineers who proactively integrate AI-augmented workflows (coding assistants, automated testing, and agentic tools) to accelerate delivery and reduce repetitive toil.
• Technical Specification: Partner with the product team to bridge the gap between UI/UX designs and technical execution, turning abstract requirements into stable system designs.
• Modernization: Keep the Fanicon experience at the cutting edge by integrating the latest Android OS features and evolving our architectural patterns.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• Native Expertise: 3–5+ years of professional experience in native Android (Kotlin).
  Technical Fundamentals: A solid grasp of the Android SDK. You can explain the "why" behind your technical choices.
• In-App Billing (IAB): Proven experience implementing and maintaining Google Play Billing and payment flows.
• Feature Delivery: Experience taking features from initial planning through to release. You care about the user experience as much as the code.
• Modern Workflow: Experience (or a strong interest) in using AI tools to improve productivity without compromising code quality.
• Collaborative Spirit: You enjoy working with PMs and Designers and value reaching team consensus.

Preferred Skills (Nice to Have):

• Video Experience: Experience with both video streaming (broadcasting via RTMP/S) and video playback (optimized watching via HLS or Low-Latency HLS).
• UI/UX Craftsmanship: A passion for building high-fidelity interfaces and implementing smooth animations or custom views.
• Security: Experience with server-side verification for payments and digital rights management.
• Seniority: Experience defining long-term technical roadmaps and architectural goals for a high-traffic product.

Language Requirements

• Business-level proficiency in either Japanese or English, with at least conversational level in the other.
