Role Overview

Help English learners unlock their "I did it!" moments – Join us as an Online English Instructor!

At SpeakBuddy, we are looking for instructors to lead online lessons that bridge the gap between learning on our AI app and real-life conversation. We provide learners with a space to practice what they’ve studied in the "SpeakBuddy" app through actual human interaction.

Why not use your English skills to help learners achieve their dream of speaking English fluently? This is a fully remote position, allowing you to schedule your work flexibly. Please note: This is an independent contractor (業務委託) position.

Your Responsibilities

You will conduct 1-on-1 online lessons based on the curriculum covered in the SpeakBuddy app.

• Preparation: Review the target phrases for the lesson (approx. 10 min).
• Lesson: Conduct a practical English conversation session (approx. 25 min).
• Feedback: Complete a simple lesson evaluation (approx. 5 min).
  By combining SpeakBuddy’s AI learning with your human touch, you will provide students with the vital experience of "actually being able to speak."

Work Style & Environment

• Flexible Hours: Tell us your availability between 8:00 AM and 10:00 PM.
• Booking System: Submit your available slots in advance; lessons will be scheduled based on student bookings.
• 100% Remote: Work from anywhere in Japan!
  Priority Slots: We are actively seeking candidates who can work 8:00 AM – 9:00 AM, after 6:00 PM, and anytime on weekends. If you are available during these times, we would love to hear from you!

We are looking for individuals who can provide a warm, encouraging environment that makes learners think, "I want to talk with this person again!"
You can lead conversations comfortably, matching the learner's pace.
You genuinely celebrate the learner's small wins.
You naturally provide encouragement and maintain a positive atmosphere.
We value cheerfulness, kindness, and approachability as much as English proficiency. As our main users are business professionals in their 40s and 50s, those with professional work experience are highly encouraged to apply.

• Native or Near Native English Proficiency: TOEIC 900+, Eiken Grade 1, or equivalent.
• Professional Experience: At least 3 years of work experience in a corporate/business environment.
• Teaching Experience: Experience teaching working professionals.
• Communication: Ability to respond to the support team via chat within 24 hours.
• Soft Skills: Strong communication skills with a focus on praise and encouragement.
• Empathy: Someone who has personally experienced the challenges of language learning and can empathize with students.
• Tech Requirements: Possession of both a mobile device (iOS/Android) and a PC.
• Environment: A stable internet connection. Must have your own PC.

• Availability on weekends and weekday evenings.
• Commitment to a long-term working relationship.
