About the Position

Role Overview

This is a QA Lead role responsible for driving product quality through test automation and AI-powered quality engineering.

Working closely with the QA Manager, who is responsible for people management, you will lead the design and implementation of the company's automation strategy, integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines, and serve as the technical bridge between Japan and India across our multinational QA organization.

While the QA Manager focuses on people and organizational management, this role owns technical leadership, test automation, AI adoption, and global technical collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

1. Lead Test Automation Strategy

• Design and implement end-to-end automated tests using tools such as Playwright, Cypress, and CodeceptJS.
• Design, establish, and standardize the company's test automation framework.
• Integrate automated testing into GitHub Actions and continuously improve the CI/CD testing pipeline.
• Evaluate existing manual testing processes and prioritize areas for automation.

2. Improve Quality Through AI

• Research, evaluate, and implement AI-powered solutions for test generation, test case design, and defect analysis.
• Integrate AI tools and coding agents into the QA workflow to improve engineering productivity and software quality.

3. Serve as the Technical Bridge for Global QA

• Standardize test design and automation strategies across the Japan and India engineering teams.
• Act as the primary technical liaison between Japanese- and English-speaking teams, ensuring smooth communication and collaboration.
• Establish knowledge-sharing, technical review, and collaboration processes across global teams.

4. Drive Quality Improvement

• Provide technical guidance, code reviews, and mentoring to QA engineers.
• Identify quality challenges across multiple products and lead continuous improvement initiatives.

Organization

You will join the Innovation & Engineering Division – Japan QA Team.

Reporting directly to the QA Manager, you will serve as the technical lead responsible for automation strategy and global engineering collaboration. Working closely with the India QA Team, you will help build and scale a globally aligned quality engineering organization.

• Japan QA Team: 8 members
• India QA Team: 7 members

As part of our multinational engineering organization, both Japanese and English are used in day-to-day communication.

Required Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with test automation using one or more of the following frameworks: Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or CodeceptJS.
• Practical experience leveraging AI to improve test automation, software quality, and QA processes.
• Experience integrating and maintaining automated tests within CI/CD pipelines.
• Professional experience in software quality assurance (QA), including test planning, test design, and test execution.
• English: Upper-intermediate (Business) level or above.
• Japanese: Basic Business-level proficiency or above.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proven experience leading the design, implementation, and standardization of a test automation framework from the ground up.
• Hands-on experience in web application development, either in backend or frontend engineering.
• Experience working in startup and/or Agile software development environments.
• Experience collaborating with global, cross-functional teams across different time zones and cultural backgrounds.
• Proven experience providing technical leadership as a QA Lead, Software Engineer in Test (SET), or Technical Lead, guiding teams on automation strategy, quality engineering best practices, and technical decision-making.
