INDUSTRY OVERVIEW

The Expert Network Services (ENS) industry connects our clients (consulting and investment firms) with specialized insights from top experts. With a strong focus on the Asia-Pacific region, our team is fluent in the languages ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​across the area and has unmatched recruitment capabilities to find experts from any industry or niche.

ROLE OVERVIEW

As a Backend Engineer at Arches, you will collaborate closely with two senior engineers to develop and continuously improve our internal systems that support core business operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop, test, and operate Ruby on Rails applications for internal systems.
• Implement authentication and authorization mechanisms (eg, JWT).
• Build, document, and maintain RESTful APIs.
• Design, optimize, and maintain MySQL databases using ActiveRecord and raw SQL.
• Support application development, deployment, and operations using Docker and AWS.

REQUIREMENTS

Essential Qualifications

We value strong AI-driven learning ability over experience with a specific tech stack.

• 3–5 years of backend development experience, or equivalent professional capability.
• Strong ability to learn quickly using AI tools (LLMs, AI coding assistants, etc.).
• Experience with any modern backend framework (Ruby on Rails not required) or an equivalent solid technical foundation.
• Good understanding of RESTful APIs.
• Basic knowledge of relational databases (RDB) and experience with ORMs.
• Experience working in a GitHub-based team environment (pull requests, code reviews).

Key Attributes & Preferred Experience

• AI & Development Mindset
  • Experience with AI-driven development or hands-on use of AI coding tools.
  • Experience learning or working with Ruby on Rails.
• Infrastructure & DevOps
  • Basic knowledge of AWS.
  • Experience with Docker and ECS (Fargate).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines , especially GitHub Actions.
  • Experience with logging and monitoring tools (eg, Sentry, CloudWatch).
• Security
  • Basic understanding of application security principles.
  • Familiarity with security scanners and WAF-level security concepts.
• Additional Tech Stack (Nice to Have)
  • Experience with Redis, ElasticSearch / OpenSearch, or BigQuery.
  • Basic understanding of frontend technologies (JavaScript / TypeScript, React).
