Adora is expanding into Southeast Asia, and we need a freelance 2D motion designer to bring our first video ad to life. The concept and storyboard are done — your job is to turn them into a polished, warm 30–50 second animated ad, then help us adapt it for Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand.

This is a great fit for an early-career animator with a strong portfolio. You don't need years of agency experience; you need good taste, clean execution and the ability to follow a brief closely.

Adora builds AI-powered apps that help parents protect children from bullying, online crime and digital harm. Our work has won the Cabinet Secretariat IchiBiz Award (Public Safety Prize) and the 18th Kids Design Award, and our app is offered on KDDI's U12 Value Plan.

The Project

You'll animate an 8-scene storyboard we've already written, with on-screen text and voice-over script for each scene. The story moves from a parent's worry about their child's digital life, to discovering Adora, to a family building healthier digital habits together.

• Length: 30–50 seconds (main video) + a 15–30 second cutdown for social
• Formats: 16:9 (YouTube, website, presentations) and 9:16 (Instagram Reels, TikTok, Stories)
• Style: Friendly 2D character animation + app UI mockups
• Look: Clean, modern, turquoise/teal brand palette, not text-heavy
• Tone: Warm, friendly, reassuring
• Audio: Uplifting background music + English voice-over
• Subtitles: Malay and Mandarin (optional)

Localized Versions

We'll reuse the same design for several countries: Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand. The master video should be built as a reusable template so we can swap:

• On-screen text, subtitles and voice-over per language

We expect a couple of videos in total, starting with the master version and then the country adaptations.

What You'll Do

• Review our storyboard and confirm scene timing, style frames and character designs before animating.
• Design the characters, backgrounds and app UI screens in our brand style (we'll provide the logo, colors and real app screenshots).
• Animate the full 30–50 second master video in 16:9, then reformat it for 9:16.
• Cut a 15–30 second version for social media.
• Sync animation to the voice-over and music, and add subtitles.
• Build the project so text, language and local background elements are easy to swap, then produce the country versions.
• Share drafts at agreed checkpoints and turn around feedback quickly.
• Hand over final renders plus organized, editable source files.

How to Apply

• Your portfolio or showreel, with 2–3 pieces closest to this style highlighted.
• Your rate for the master video and for each additional country version.
• Your estimated timeline and current availability.

• A portfolio showing 2D character animation and/or animated explainer or ad videos.
• 1+ years of motion design or animation work (freelance, agency, studio or strong personal projects all count).
• Ability to follow a storyboard and brand guidelines closely.
• Good communication in English and reliability with deadlines.

• Illustration skills: you can design characters and scenes yourself.
• Experience animating app or UI mockups.
• Experience producing multilingual or localized video versions.
• Familiarity with Southeast Asian audiences, or Malay, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Thai or Mandarin.
• Basic sound design and editing for music and voice-over.
