仕事概要
The Mission Integration Engineer is vital to the success of every mission and the satisfaction of our customers. In this role, you will lead the technical aspects of payload integration, from pre-contract engagement through post-launch activities, making a direct impact on each mission's outcome. You will develop and maintain mission-specific integration documents, work closely with customers and engineering teams to ensure flawless compatibility, and support the Sales team in building strong global relationships. As a Mission Integration Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in upholding our company's reputation and driving our leadership in the aerospace industry.
Responsibilities:
■Develop Mission Integration and Service Program
- Collaborate with the team to establish the mission integration service program, which is central to post-contract activities. This includes drafting the Payload-to-Launch Vehicle Interface Control Document (ICD), developing the launch campaign plan, and ensuring the efficient management and maintenance of deliverables between Interstellar and its customers.
■Represent Technical Aspects During Pre-Contract Customer Engagements
- Support the Sales team during pre-contract activities by serving as the primary technical contact for payload integration, including mission planning, flight performance, payload mechanical and electrical interfaces, and flight environments.
- Assist the Sales team in building and maintaining relationships with global customers, including both commercial companies and governmental organizations, such as space agencies.
- Represent Interstellar on the global stage by participating in space conferences, conducting customer visits, and engaging in advocacy efforts.
■Lead Technical Aspects of the Contract
- Oversee technical elements of the Launch Service Agreement (LSA) and Statement of Work (SoW), such as launch window, destination orbit, and interface requirements. Coordinate with engineers and the Sales team to ensure all technical aspects are clearly defined and achievable.
■Oversee Payload Integration and Post-Launch Activities
- Develop and maintain mission-specific Payload-to-Launch Vehicle Interface Control Documents (mission-specific ICD), ensuring payload qualifications meet launch vehicle requirements. Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure interface compatibility and seamless integration.
- Manage customer communication, oversee deliverables, provide updates on mission status and technical issues, and offer technical support throughout the integration and qualification process.
- Participate in post-mission reviews to evaluate launch outcomes, acquire the initial separation state vector, and identify lessons learned for future improvement.
■Company Overview
Interstellar Technologies is a venture company aiming to create an overwhelmingly affordable and convenient infrastructure for space, making it accessible to everyone. Headquartered in Taiki Town, Hokkaido, the company also operates development sites in Tokyo, Fukushima, Obihiro, and the Muroran Technology Research Institute (located within Muroran Institute of Technology). Our sounding rocket MOMO achieved the first and only spaceflight by a private Japanese company, and we are now intensifying the development of our next-generation small satellite launch vehicle, ZERO.
In September 2023, we secured 2 billion yen in funding after being selected for the SBIR (Small Business Innovation Research) program by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. In March 2024, we signed a basic agreement with JAXA for procurement of launch transportation services. In April, we signed a contract with Italian venture company D-Orbit, which specializes in logistics services for small satellites, for future launches. These milestones are accelerating our business towards the launch of ZERO.
